I thought his legal name was just \\\"Fred\\\"; he served on the Revenue Cutter Bear 1912 for one year Alaska cruise joined the Cal National Guard as a cook to chase Mexican bandits, off to WWI and Franc where he was commissioned an officer, served through end of WWII, recalled for 3 years during Korean War; died 1961 in Oroville CA
